This timing cover is for early SBC engines (pre 1987) that have a hydraulic roller cam conversion and require the use of a cam button. If you are installing an early SBC engine (with hydraulic roller cam conversion) into a 1996-newer GM truck (or an application where a crank sensor is used), this timing cover will be required. Includes timing cover, Cloyes cam button assembly (9-221D), gasket set, and all related attaching bolts.
