| 24x Crank and Cam Signal Equipment (INDIVIDUAL PRICING) |
| Piecing together your own 24x conversion? Choose from the 24x related individual components below. |
| Timing Cover |
| The following timing covers are required with the EFI 24x system because they have provision for a crankshaft position sensor. The billet aluminum timing covers are required when using a double row timing set. The plastic Vortec timing cover is not recommended for 1995 and older SBC engines because block differences will cause it to leak. |
| Ignition Coils and Bracket Assemblies |
| Our LS ignition coil bracket assemblies are intended for SBC/LT1 engines with center bolt valve covers. They clear PCV, breather, and oil fill holes in the valve covers. Have your own LS coils? No problem. If they were used with an LS type PCM, they will work with the EFI 24x conversion. |
| PCM, ECM, and TCM |
| We recommend keeping the conversion simple by using the 2001-2002 LS1 PCM (GM# 12200411). This PCM is capable of cable or electronic throttle control, 4L60E or 4L80E transmission control, and is popular among tuners. If you are determined to use the 2005-2006 E40 ECM, you will have knock sensor mounting issues and require a separate transmission controller (TCM) for 4L60E transmissions. |
| Tuning and Scanning Equipment |
| We are an EFILive reseller (and primarily tune with EFILive), but would alternatively recommend HPTuners, TunerCat OBDII, or LS1Edit for LS1 PCM tuning. |
| Engine Wiring Harnesses |
| While EFI Connection often builds custom harnesses to suit the engine/transmission installation, there are some harnesses that are more routine. If your project requires an engine harness other than what is listed below, please contact us for a quote and estimated build time. All engine harnesses are built as they are ordered; in other words we do not typically have stock on any particular harness. Build times vary depending on the amount of work in the shop. |
| Electronic Throttle |
| Electronic throttle is not required. Most EFI 24x conversions are using cable throttle with TPI and LT1 throttle bodies. The benefits of electronic throttle are electronic cruise control and more/faster throttle area adjustment for smoothing out idle with aggressively cammed engines. The drawback to electronic throttle is the extra expense. Electronic throttle is based on LS1/LS6 Corvette or LS Truck equipment; this means that a throttle actuator control module (TAC) and electronic pedal are required. |
