Introducing EFI Connection's 58x System
EFI Connection's 58x system brings any 2006-2010 LS2/LS3/LS7 type engine control module to early/late Small-Block Chevy and late 7.4L Big-Block Chevy engines. These engines can now receive coil per cylinder ignition, use 4L60E, 4L80E, 6L80E, and 6L90E automatic transmissions, T56 six-speed manual transmission reverse lockout feature, and electonic drive-by-wire throttle bodies.

The Gen IV LSx ECMs are POWERFUL engine controllers that can be tuned by most dyno facilities and with popular tuning software like EFILive, HP Tuners, and LS2Edit. With up to 2.5 BAR forced induction support, nitrous control, and advanced data logging, the LS3/LS7 ECMs have more to offer than most aftermarket ECUs!

* 58x system is not available for Mark IV and Gen V Big-Block Chevy engines. We are working on this system in 2010, but do not have an estimated availability date or estimated pricing. These engines will require a new oil pan and oil pan seal that do not currently exist.

Required - Electronic Throttle
Gen IV LSx engine controllers have no provision for an idle air control motor. This means that cable driven throttle bodies cannot be used with EFI Connection's 58x system.

Gen IV LSx ECMs manage cruise control through CAN bus messaging from the body control module (BCM). This means that our 58x system does not offer cruise control.

EFI Connection offers 52mm, 58mm, and Mono-Blade billet aluminum throttle bodies for TPI and LT1 type intake manifolds. Our 58x system may also be used with electronic LS1/LS6 Corvette or LS2/LS3/LS7 type throttle bodies if the intake manifold will accept the 3 bolt LS1/LS6 or 4 bolt LS2/LS3/LS7 manifold flange.

6L80E and 6L90E Transmission Control
EFI Connection's 58x system is the first aftermarket fuel management package that will allow the use of a 6L80E or 6L90E six speed automatic transmission with early/late Small-Block Chevy, late 7.4L Big-Block Chevy, and LT1/LT4 engines.

Paddle shifting (or tap shifting) is also possible. Paddle shifting may require adaptation of a production paddle (tap) shifter assembly.

Bolting a 6L80E/6L90E transmission to a non-LS engine will require fabrication skills.

Price and Availability
Please use the "Quote Your 58x System" link at the left to build your own system. Early/late Small Block Chevy and late 7.4L Big Block Chevy packages are now available.

LT1 engines will require the use of the 4x cam sync distributor. This will require a distributor hole in the LT1 intake manifold or the use of a TPIS LT1 Mini Ram.

A typical 58x system for a TPI engine looks like the following.
  • 58x Crank Reluctor and 4x Cam Sync Distributor
  • Billet Aluminum SBC Timing Cover
  • Engine Wiring Harness
  • E38 ECM
  • Electronic Drive-by-Wire Throttle Body
  • Corvette Electronic Pedal Assembly
  • LS Coil Bracket Assemblies

58x Crankshaft Reluctor
The EFI Connection 58x system satisfies the GM Gen IV ECU's crankshaft signal with a 58 tooth crankshaft reluctor wheel that installs within the SBC/BBC timing cover. Made of billet steel, our crankshaft reluctor wheels are the highest quality pieces available.

The crankshaft reluctor wheel adds thickness between the crankshaft timing sprocket and crankshaft balancer. Late SBC/BBC engines (Vortec) are equipped with balancers that are shorter than early SBC/BBC balancers to accomodate for the thickness of a crankshaft reluctor. Our crankshaft reluctors will require the use of the late SBC/BBC balancer or you may machine down an early SBC/BBC balancer to avoid crankshaft pulley misalignment.

Every EFI Connection 58x SBC reluctor will clear both a single row and double row timing chain.

4x Cam Sync Distributor Assembly
The EFI Connection 58x system satisfies the GM Gen IV ECU's camshaft signal with a 4 tooth camshaft reluctor wheel that we pre-install into an aluminum Vortec distributor. Made of billet steel, our camshaft reluctor wheel is the highest quality piece available.

We chose the Vortec distributor to make use of GM's easily serviceable, and very inexpensive, camshaft sensor.

Our 4x cam sync distributor is used with all SBC/BBC installations, but cannot be used with tall deck engines.

Proper orientation and installation details are included with every 4x cam sync distributor assembly.
