What is 24x all about?

You need a 24x Crank and 1x Cam Signal
For the LS1 PCM to work on any V8 engine, it needs the correct crank signal (24x) and cam signal (1x). The 96-newer engines already have a crank sensor,
so we relied on the 96-newer timing cover to mount a sensor and allow provision for the 24x crank reluctor.
Do you have an early Small-Block Chevy? Use a 96-newer Vortec timing cover. Install the 24x crank reluctor, install the Vortec timing cover, install the 24x crank sensor, and install the Vortec distributor with sealed cap. This will equip your engine with the crank/cam signals required by the LS1 PCM. Do you have a 96-97 LT1? Then remove the timing cover, remove the 4x crank reluctor, install the 24x crank reluctor in its place, replace the original 4x crank sensor with the 24x crank sensor, and then install the timing cover. Install our camshaft sensor kit. The cam sensor housing housing bolts/seals in place of the optispark (the optispark is 100% gone). The 1x reluctor is installed to the front of the cam timing sprocket. This will equip your engine with the crank/cam signals required by the LS1 PCM. Do you have a 92-95 LT1? Get the 96-97 timing cover. Mill down the crankshaft hub the thickness of the 24x crank reluctor (2.5mm) to avoid misalignment of the accessory belt, install the 96-97 LT1 crank key, file the crank key to be flush with the crank so that the crank hub does not crush the key during installation, install the 24x crank reluctor, and install the 96-97 timing cover with 24x crank sensor. Install our camshaft sensor kit. The cam sensor housing bolts/seals in place of the optispark (the optispark is 100% gone). The 1x reluctor is installed to the front of the cam timing sprocket. This will equip your engine with the crank/cam signals required by the LS1 PCM.
You need the LS1 PCM
The 24x crank and 1x cam signals are intended for the LS1 PCM. This includes all Gen 3 LS type PCMs. EFI Connection recommends the 2001-2002 GM# 12200411 LS1
PCM due to its price, availability, and versatility.
You need a wiring harness to support both the LS1 PCM and your car
EFI Connection builds brand new engine harnesses. Please contact us with your build requirements.
You need 8 LS type coils, a harness to connect the coils, and a method of attaching the coils to your engine
Your may consider welding coil mounts to your existing valve covers or consider our coil bracket assemblies. These brackets will fit most center bolt valve cover configurations and clear PCV, oil fill, and breather.
You need to recalibrate the LS1 PCM for your application
Forget about a hand held programmer. This requires software like EFILive or HPTuners.
EFI Connection does not provide PCM engine calibrations.
